This project is built with our technology partners:
More than 2.7 million people a year visit the Netherlands' most famous museum. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the entire country. The brand decided to follow the trend of digital transformation and launch its online shop with books, decorations, items for the home and even artwork.
After analyzing the target group, we began work on the shop platform, which had to be consistent with the brand's character, as well as a source of inspiration for visitors.
New shop implemented on Shopware
The Rijksmuseum brand wanted the experience of shopping online to be similar to that of a person visiting a museum. It has to be artistic, inspiring and stimulate the imagination. In addition to this, the website had to be optimised to fulfil the sales function, have a user-friendly UX and well display the product range inspired by the museum's collection.
In the first stage, an external agency prepared the new website design, which we implemented on the basis of the Shopware platform.
Navigation on the site is facilitated by clear categories.
For each category page, a large photograph from the museum's collection was used - to evoke the experience of being in the museum. In addition to basic descriptions, the product card shows stock levels and delivery times.
