Challenge

Winezja.pl is a wine portal owned by the Czech company Soare Sekt, a producer of wines and spirits for the Czech and Slovak markets. The company is part of the Ambra S.A. capital group, the largest producer, importer, and distributor of wines in Poland, with a strong presence in the Central and Eastern European markets. For years, the portal has been trusted by wine enthusiasts for its curated selection, direct relationships with wineries and distilleries, and expert advice.

The partnership began in 2023 when the company decided to transition from its existing shop software to a solution that offered greater scalability, easier integration with other systems, and seamless support for expansion into new markets. This change was essential due to the organization’s complex IT infrastructure and evolving business needs.

Previously, the brand relied on a customized CRM system, which could no longer meet the growing company's requirements for functionality, performance, stability, and scalability. With the support of the Strix team, Winezja decided to migrate its platform to Magento to address these challenges.

Solution

The project began with a comprehensive analysis of the client's technical infrastructure and business needs. This analysis enabled us to propose a solution specifically tailored to the scale and complexity of Winezja’s operations. As part of a multinational corporation, the portal is embedded within a larger IT ecosystem, making efficient integration and data exchange crucial.

Given that the company’s infrastructure included a Microsoft BizTalk data bus, we leveraged it as the primary communication channel between various implemented systems, including ERP, PIM (Pimcore), and a mobile application. To enhance portal performance, we integrated Hyvä Theme and Hyvä Checkout. Hyvä Theme, a modern front-end layout for Magento 2, significantly improves website speed and responsiveness, resulting in better SEO outcomes and a superior user experience.

One notable challenge was ensuring seamless integration between the portal and a loyalty program managed by another Ambra Group company. This program offers multiple membership tiers, each with a range of discounts and promotions. Our task was to implement logic in Magento that could dynamically calculate the most advantageous offers for customers based on their membership tier, purchase history, and cart contents. Additionally, this loyalty program operates in an omnichannel environment and is managed via an external mobile app owned by another Group entity.

Another critical feature was the implementation of an algorithm that enables customers to select a store and schedule a pick-up date during the checkout process. Since the portal operates in a marketplace model and hosts offers from various retailers, we integrated the Przelewy24 payment service, allowing funds to be distributed according to the business model's billing logic.

Due to the success of the initial implementation, plans are in place to expand the solution further, extending its functionality to other markets and divisions within the Ambra Group. This includes supporting in-store sales for Group companies in the Czech and Polish markets, improving data management, and elevating customer service quality.
